In the Gospel of Mark, we read the account of Jesus finding a fig tree displaying the glory of its foliage only to discover that it was a fruitless exhibition. Because of that, Jesus cursed that tree ensuring that it would never give a false display again. Are fruitless trees morally culpable for not producing figs? Certainly Jesus, who is the Lord of Life should know when the fig trees are in season. This difficult passage has caused some Bible critics to have a field day. In this message, Dr. Sproul answers those critics, and all of those who have personally struggled with why Jesus cursed the unfruitful fig tree.
