What Book Would You Recommend to a New Christian?
How can new Christians learn to better navigate the Bible? Today, Ben Shaw recommends a helpful and accessible book.
NATHAN W. BINGHAM: Joining us this week on the Ligonier campus is Dr. Ben Shaw, who is the professor of Old Testament at Reformation Bible College. Dr. Shaw, what book would you recommend to a new Christian?
DR. BEN SHAW: Well, aside from the Bible of course, I would recommend Michael Williams’ little book How to Read the Bible through the Jesus Lens. He gives a brief summary and introduction to each book of the Bible and with a key verse or a key passage relative to that book. And then he outlines for us how that book and the contents of it relate to Christ. I just think it’s a wonderful way for the beginning Christian to see how the whole Bible testifies to Christ.
