Abraham was counted righteous in God’s sight—not on the basis of any works Abraham performed, but because of his faith in the promise of God. Today, R.C. Sproul calls us to exercise the same trust in the Lord, for God is altogether trustworthy.

Transcript

Abraham believed God, and there’s no merit in that. Abraham should believe God because God is eminently believable. Abraham should trust God because God is altogether trustworthy. But Abraham believed God and God counted him, He reckoned him, as righteous. Not on the basis of any works that Abraham performed but on the basis of his faith and of his faith alone in the promise of God. And what it was that pleased God was not that Abraham believed in God; Abraham said: “I will put my life on the line by trusting you. I believe You.”
