Our Faith Is God’s Mercy

The whole of our salvation—even our faith in Christ—is given to us as an extravagant gift of God’s mercy. Today, R.C. Sproul teaches that this truth should deepen our gratitude toward our gracious Redeemer.
When we think about the riches of divine mercy by which we are redeemed, and think that even the faith by which we are saved is not something that came out of our own flesh, not something that came out of our own will, but that it came as a direct result of the supernatural intervention in our lives, then it’s something that should drive us to our knees in gratitude and thanksgiving. Why us? Why have we been redeemed? We know that we didn’t embrace Christ out of our flesh. We know that it took the inner work of God the Holy Spirit to change us from those who were opposed to the things of God to those who embraced the things of God. This is a marvelous illustration of the mercy of God.
