Study the Word of God

Our Bibles are not meant to collect dust on a shelf. Today, R.C. Sproul challenges us to commit our lives to the careful study of God’s Word.
It’s not enough for us simply to rejoice that God has given us His inscripturated Word that is infallible and inspired, and it is His truth. If we really believe that, the question that is left is this: How can we possibly neglect it? How can we not immerse ourselves in it and do everything that we can to gain a proper understanding of it?
Again, as our Lord himself said to Satan, “Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth forth from the mouth of God” (Matt. 4:4). And that is such a tremendous benefit to our lives and to our souls that it’s worth the effort of careful, and diligent, and disciplined study of His Word. That’s my challenge to you, and I want to encourage you to make it a lifelong study.
