The “Enlightenment” of the Western World

Where we are, you see, in terms of Western culture is described by philosophers today as Western civilization or a Western man having come of age, no longer dependent on the authority of God. We've reached the enlightenment. God is no longer necessary. You see from my perspective, as a Christian, I view our society and the progress of history, not of coming to the age of maturity, but as coming to the age of adolescence. And what we're going through now is a pimply acned rebellion that is based not so much on a discovery of the untrustworthiness of the teaching of God, or the teaching of Christ, as it is based on a conflict of interests between the commands of Christ and the desires of our unbridled will.
