The Source of All Authority

No rulers in this world have power in and of themselves. Their authority has been delegated to them by God. Today, R.C. Sproul reminds us that every authority will be held accountable to the King of kings.
No ruler in this world has any authority whatsoever, except that which has been delegated to him by God and by His Christ, who is the King of the Kings and the Lord of the Lords. We don’t take that seriously. The president of the United States on the judgment day will be evaluated for his administration, not by the voice of the people, but by Christ, because he is under the authority of Christ. The emperors of Rome are answerable to Christ for how they run their administration. Christians are called to honor the king, to pay their taxes, to pray for the king, and to be submissive to the authorities because the powers that be are instituted and ordained of God.
