Augustine: Faith and Reason (Part 1)

How do we know what we know? Can we come to certain knowledge through the use of pure logic, or do we have to take it on faith? While many people today pit faith and reason against each other in this way, Augustine saw things differently. He asserted that to trust in God’s authority is not only rational but also eminently wise. In this message, Dr. R.C. Sproul discusses Augustine’s famous yet often-misunderstood statement: “I believe in order that I might understand.”
