The Need for Judges

God instituted the office of judge to help Israel in her state of spiritual decline. Israel’s continued decline even during this period reveals the intent behind the book of Judges, which functions as a treatise on Israel’s need for a king. In this lesson, Dr. Godfrey places the book of Judges within its context in the Bible to further develop our understanding of the book’s final judge, Samson.
