Considering the beginnings of evangelicalism and its emphasis on gospel proclamation, it seems like the church could have been headed in a hopeful direction. We see, however, a wide variety of responses and emphases as evangelicalism spread throughout its second phase amid significant transformation in American culture. Dr. Stephen J. Nichols is president of Reformation Bible College, chief academic officer for Ligonier Ministries, and a Ligonier Ministries teaching fellow. He is featured teacher for several Ligonier teaching series, including Christianity and Liberalism. He is author of many books, including Bible Basics, R.C.
