Jesus’ death on the cross left His disciples in despair. As some of Christ’s followers laid His body in a tomb, they were burying their hopes that Jesus was the long-awaited Messiah. Even when reports reached them days later that Christ had risen from the grave, the brokenhearted disciples refused to believe—until Jesus met them face-to-face in His resurrected glory.
