As Paul has explained, it is crucial for believers to work out their salvation with fear and trembling. But the enterprise of becoming a new creation in the likeness of Christ Jesus is too great to be accomplished through sheer human effort. Thankfully, God does not leave His people to their own devices. Even as Christians are called to labor diligently to work out their salvation, they can take heart that God is also working steadily within them to put sin to death and to form the very life in Christ inside them.
