Jesus was not using hyperbole when He taught His disciples in Matthew 16:24, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.” To follow Jesus is to offer up one’s own life each day as a living sacrifice to God. The Apostle Paul experienced this reality firsthand, as he repeatedly endured suffering and persecution in the name of Jesus Christ. In this lesson Dr. Lawson investigates Paul’s instructions to the Philippian Christians, telling them that they too will be given the opportunity to suffer for the sake of Christ.
