After surveying the downward slope of the humiliation of Jesus Christ, which culminated in the depth of His agony and rejection on the cross, Paul turns his attention in the following verses to Jesus’ upward climb to glory. Just as Philippians 2:6–8 shows that no one has come from as high as Jesus and fallen so low, Philippians 2:9–11 shows that no one has ever come from as low as Jesus and risen so high.
